I’ve taken the liberty of resubmitting this (a third and hopefully last time), in large part reworking it with the great advice from the original versions (at http://duncanlong.cgsociety.org/gallery/348766/ ).

So redid the face (working from the one created for http://duncanlong.cgsociety.org/gallery/408588/ — thinning down the chin, adding hair, changing the lighting...) and also changed the background, returning to a darker background, this time with some detailed passageway to add a little more interest. I kept the second version armor and added light texturing/noise to.

My original reference photo and the various elements used in this picture are shown at the links above. All the work was done in Photo-Paint working on my trusty Wacom tablet..

I want to thank everyone with the advice on the first and second versions. The input from fellow artists is always a big help and much appreciated.
